Salt mine (Z·M colec.) In this humid region, the inhabitants did not use the sun’s rays to extract salt, but relied instead on the heat produced by fire. The technical developments of the 19th century rendered this salt mine unprofitable. Today, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Government is recuperating and restoring the area with the aim of exhibiting old working methods.
